The countdown to AWS re:Invent is officially on, and most of your schedule might be packed. If you’re like me, you’re probably scrolling through the massive session catalog, trying to figure out where to be and who to see. It’s a huge event, and planning is everything.
This year, my main focus is zeroing in on data and AI governance. It’s a topic that keeps coming up in conversations with all of you.
- How do we keep our data secure?
- How do we build trust in our AI systems?
- How do we balance tight controls with the need for our teams to innovate?
These aren’t just buzzwords; they’re the real challenges we’re facing every single day. We’re building incredible things with data and AI, but without the right governance, we’re building on shaky ground.
I’ve been digging through the sessions, looking for the ones that don’t just talk theory but give you real, actionable strategies. And I’ve found a few gems I want to share.

More Than Just a Lecture
We’ve all sat through those sessions where you’re just a face in the crowd, listening to a presentation. They can be good, but the real learning – the stuff that sticks – happens when you get your hands dirty. That’s why I’m excited about the interactive sessions and tabletop experiences.
I’m particularly looking at a couple of gamified learning sessions that throw you right into the action:
- AI Governance & Oversight Tabletop Experience (GHJ214-R1): This one caught my eye because it puts you in a boardroom setting. You get to make high-stakes decisions about a fictional company’s generative AI strategy. It’s a chance to see how your choices play out, learn from mistakes without real-world consequences, and sharpen your oversight skills. It’s the kind of experience that can give you years’ worth of insights in just a couple of hours.
- 3rd Party Risk Management Tabletop Experience (GHJ210-R/R1): Our systems are more connected than ever, which means our risk is too. This tabletop simulates navigating complex vendor and partner risks. You’ll be forced to think on your feet and develop strategies to protect your organization. It’s a practical, hands-on way to get better at managing the external relationships that are so critical to our businesses.
These aren’t your typical sit-and-listen talks. They’re designed to be immersive and challenging, which is where the best growth happens.

Let’s Connect and Talk Strategy
Listening to experts is great, but talking with them is even better. That’s where the real magic of re:Invent happens—in the hallways, over a coffee, or in a planned chat. It’s your chance to ask the specific questions you’re wrestling with and get advice tailored to your situation.
That’s why I’m making it a priority to connect with the thought leaders from Privacera while I’m there. They live and breathe data and AI governance, and they’re always deep in the mix, helping companies solve these exact problems. It’s a perfect opportunity to move beyond the presentations and have a real conversation.
We can dive into topics like:
- Building a data governance framework that doesn’t slow you down.
- Ensuring your AI models are both powerful and responsible.
- Practical ways to manage access controls at scale.
- Strategies for securing data across your entire cloud environment.
These conversations are where you can get personalized insights and build connections that last long after the conference ends.
Take Action and Book a Time with Experts
The week is going to fly by. If you don’t plan for these conversations, they won’t happen.
Also, I encourage you to book a meeting with the Data and AI Governance experts. Let’s make this re:Invent the one where we move from just talking about data and AI governance to actually mastering it.
I hope to see you there. Let’s connect, share what we’re learning, and figure out how to build better, more secure systems together.
